Use the tool below
This PNG to JPG converter takes a .png file and writes a JPEG. Convert PNG to JPG when email, a CMS, or a form bounced on file size and only lists JPG or JPEG.
PNG to JPEG is the same hop. The extension may be .jpg or .jpeg. JPEG cannot store transparency — if the PNG has a cutout, those pixels flatten onto white before encode.
No account is required. Tool files last about two hours, then they are deleted. That is not the same as “no file size limit” — see limits if a huge export fails.
How to Convert PNG to JPG
- Use the widget above. Drop
.pngfiles. More than one file is allowed. - Output on this tool is already JPG. Leave it.
- Wait until the row shows complete. One error does not always stop the others.
- Download each JPG. Open it on the background where it will live. A white rectangle on a dark header means PNG or WebP was the right format, not another pass here.
The page works in a phone browser. Desktop Wi-Fi is more reliable for a folder of 8K exports.
Need the JPG to reach a client after download? Send it with the homepage transfer. That clock is 24 hours, not two.
What Convert PNG to JPG Actually Changes
PNG is lossless and can hold an alpha channel. JPEG is lossy and every pixel must be opaque.
We decode the PNG, flatten any transparency onto white, and encode JPEG at quality 90. That matte matches most email and paper workflows. There is no color picker on this page — if the mark will sit on a brand-colored slide, flatten onto that hex in an editor first.
The reverse job — a portal that insists on PNG — is JPG to PNG. That does not invent transparency either.
Does PNG to JPG Keep the Transparent Background?
No. JPEG has no alpha channel. Transparent holes become solid white here.
A circular avatar exported from a design tool and flattened to JPG will show as a disc on a dark sidebar. The fix is to keep PNG for that surface, or flatten onto the real background color before JPEG.
Why Did the Logo Get a White Box?
That is the flatten color. Fine on white email. Obvious on a navy header.
Semi-transparent shadows are worse than hard holes. Edge pixels blend toward white. On cream paper you barely notice. On black you get a pale fringe.
Will the JPG Be Smaller Than the PNG?
Photographs usually shrink a lot. A 4 MB PNG of a shop interior often lands a few hundred kilobytes as JPG.
Screenshots with UI chrome and small type shrink less and pick up JPEG ringing around letters. Logos and icons may look worse for only a modest win — keep those as PNG.
When a PNG to JPG Converter Helps
Gmail or a form refused the PNG on size. The image is a photograph or busy scan, not a cutout.
A marketplace or LMS upload field only lists JPG or JPEG.
The PNG is fully opaque and just a heavy container for a photo. Keep the PNG master; the JPG is a delivery file.
Catalog width is wrong? Resize with the bulk image resizer before converting megapixel dumps.
When to Skip PNG to JPEG
Logos, Icons, and Stickers
If the mark must overlay a header or slide, JPEG is the wrong format. White flatten will show.
I usually keep PNG or WebP for marks that float on colored layouts.
Screenshots With Small Text
Mac and Windows screenshots are often PNG. A photo of a window can become JPG. An 11-point settings panel should stay PNG — thin type rings under JPEG.
When a Cutout Is Still Required
Need smaller and transparency? Use WebP, not JPG.
Need a portal that only takes PDF? Image to PDF wraps one still per file.
PNG to JPG vs Other Converters
ILoveIMG, Adobe Express, and Convertio all run this hop. The differences that matter are accounts, delete clocks, flatten defaults, and whether the copy pretends JPEG can keep alpha.
| Feature | This Page | ILoveIMG | Adobe Express |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account | Not required | Optional; recent jobs tie to their cloud | Editor account for the full product |
| Batch on free tier | No published daily cap | Free plan limits batch size | Free converter with design-suite upsells |
| How long files stay | About 2 hours, then delete | Cloud workflow; not a strict 2-hour anonymous window | Cloud / account workflow |
| Transparent PNG | Flattened onto white at quality 90 | Flattened; more knobs in their suite | Often paired with background tools in the editor |
| Quality control | Fixed quality 90 — simple widget | More compression options | Export settings in the canvas |
| Watermark | None on the JPG | None on a standard convert | None on a simple export |
Convertio queues free jobs and keeps history with an account. Squoosh runs locally with a quality slider and custom matte — strong for one file in the browser. This page stays a boring PNG to JPG converter: PNG in, JPEG out, white matte, quality 90, ads instead of a signup wall.
Thousands of SKUs every night belong in a local script, not a browser widget. This page is the 4 p.m. attachment Gmail refused.
Privacy, Signup, and File Limits
No signup. Open, convert, download. Ads fund the site. File bytes are not sold to advertisers. Policy detail: privacy.
Tool uploads are not a public gallery. Links are not meant to be browsed like a photo library.
Homepage sharing keeps files about 24 hours. This converter keeps them about two hours. Neither is unlimited storage. A very large upload can still fail on memory, timeout, or a weak connection. The honest cap story is on limits.
Common PNG to JPG Questions
Does PNG to JPG Keep the Transparent Background?
No. JPEG has no alpha. We flatten onto white, then encode at quality 90. For a cutout, stay on PNG or use WebP.
Why Did the Logo Get a White Box?
That is the flatten color. Fine on white email. Ugly on a dark header. Flatten onto the real color in an editor, or do not use JPG for that mark.
Does PNG to JPG Reduce Quality?
Yes. JPEG is lossy. Quality 90 is a conservative photo default. Keep the PNG master if more edits are coming.
Is the PNG to JPG Converter Free?
Yes. No account. Ads support the page.
Can Several PNGs Be Converted at Once?
Yes. Split huge sets on cellular if a job dies.
Should WebP Be Used Instead of JPG?
If you need smaller and transparency, yes. If a portal only takes JPG, use this page.
This tool sits in Converters. Going back to a lossless working file is JPG to PNG — that does not restore the alpha you flattened away. Wrap a still as a one-page PDF with image to PDF if a portal refuses JPEG.
