This Privacy Policy describes how Big File Sharing ("we", "us", "our"), available at https://bigfilesharing.com, collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our temporary file transfer service and free online tools.
Important: We are a temporary transfer bridge, not a cloud storage provider. Uploaded files are automatically deleted within approximately 24 hours, are accessible only via private links you share, and are never published in a searchable public directory on our website.
1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
The operator of Big File Sharing is the data controller for personal information described in this policy. For privacy questions, contact us at info@bigfilesharing.com or via our Contact page.
2. Services Covered by This Policy
- Anonymous file transfer — upload files on our homepage and share a private download link
- Free online tools — converters, PDF utilities, developer formatters, and similar browser-based utilities at /tools
- Informational content — blog articles, FAQs, and tool guides at /blog and /faqs
3. Information We Collect
3.1 File upload metadata (file sharing & tools)
When you upload a file, we may process:
- File name, file size, and MIME/content type
- Upload timestamp and optional expiry/deletion time
- A randomly generated unique download token (link identifier)
- Optional recipient email address if you choose to provide one for notifications
- IP address and basic request logs for abuse prevention, security, and rate limiting
We do not use your file content for advertising targeting. We do not sell uploaded files or file contents to third parties.
3.2 Contact form data
If you contact us, we collect the information you submit (such as name, email address, subject, and message) to respond to your inquiry and maintain support records.
3.3 Technical & usage data
Like most websites, our servers may log browser type, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, and approximate geographic region derived from IP address. If Google Analytics or similar analytics is enabled by the site administrator, usage statistics may be collected in aggregated form. Analytics configuration may vary; check your browser settings and the cookie section below.
3.4 Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential operation — security, session integrity, and abuse prevention
- Preferences — remembering settings where applicable
- Analytics — understanding traffic patterns (when enabled)
- Advertising — serving and measuring ads through Google AdSense
4. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- Facilitate temporary file transfer and tool processing
- Generate and validate private download links
- Automatically delete files after the retention period
- Detect abuse, fraud, malware, and illegal content
- Respond to contact requests and legal notices
- Improve site performance, content, and security
- Display and measure advertisements that support our free service
- Comply with applicable law
We do not use uploaded file contents to build marketing profiles or sell data to data brokers.
5. File Retention & Automatic Deletion
Files you upload to share are kept only for a short window. Homepage file transfers are automatically deleted after approximately 24 hours. Online tool uploads are automatically deleted after 2 hours. After that, files are permanently deleted from active storage. We do not guarantee recovery after deletion.
Server logs and abuse-prevention records may be retained for a limited period consistent with security and legal obligations.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data only in these circumstances:
- Service providers — hosting, CDN, email delivery, or security vendors under confidentiality obligations
- Advertising partners — Google AdSense and related Google advertising technologies (see Section 7)
- Legal requirements — when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of the service
- Abuse response — cooperation with authorities regarding illegal content reports
When you share a download link, anyone with that link may access the file until it expires. You control who receives the link.
7. Google AdSense & Advertising Cookies (Required Disclosure)
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements that help keep file transfer and tools free. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies.
In accordance with Google AdSense program policies, you are informed that:
- Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- Alternatively, users may opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
For more information about how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google Advertising Policies.
If other ad networks are added in the future, this policy will be updated to list them with opt-out links where available.
8. Google Analytics (If Enabled)
We may use Google Analytics or similar tools to understand aggregated website usage. Analytics may set cookies and collect device and usage information. You can learn about Google's practices at Google Privacy Policy and use browser add-ons or settings to limit tracking.
9. Security
We use HTTPS (TLS) encryption for data in transit. Download links use long, unguessable tokens. We implement reasonable administrative and technical safeguards; however, no internet transmission or storage is 100% secure. Use our service at your own discretion for highly sensitive material.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information we hold about you. Contact info@bigfilesharing.com to submit a request.

You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
10.3 CalOPPA (California, USA)
California residents may request information about how we share personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined by California law. We honor Do Not Track signals only to the extent required by applicable law and technically feasible.

Where required by law, we obtain consent before setting non-essential cookies or serving personalized ads. You may withdraw consent via cookie settings or browser controls.
