How it works

How to Send Large Files with Big File Sharing

Step-by-step: send large files privately with Big File Sharing. No account, TLS encryption, private link, auto-delete after transfer. Free and fast.

Sending a large file by email usually fails. Cloud drives often require both people to create accounts. Big File Sharing is a temporary transfer: upload, copy a private link, and the file is removed automatically after 24 hours.

This guide explains the full flow, what recipients see, and how to share safely.

What you need

  • A browser (desktop or mobile)
  • The file or files you want to send
  • A way to send the link (email, chat, SMS)

You do not need an account, app, or credit card.

Step 1 — Open the homepage uploader

Go to bigfilesharing.com. The upload box is on the homepage. Drag files onto it or click to browse. Multiple files can be sent together as one share group.

Step 2 — Upload over HTTPS

The transfer uses TLS/SSL in transit. Large files use resumable chunked uploads, so a brief network drop does not always mean starting over. Keep the tab open until you see the success screen with your link.

Step 3 — Copy the private link

Each transfer gets a unique, unguessable URL. There is no public gallery and no search page of other people’s uploads. Only someone with the exact link can download while the file is still available.

Share that link only with intended recipients. Treat it like a password.

Step 4 — Recipient downloads

Recipients open the link and download — also without signing up. If the retention window has expired, the file is gone and cannot be recovered. Re-upload if they missed the deadline.

Step 5 — Automatic deletion

Homepage transfers are automatically deleted after 24 hours. This is intentional: we are not long-term cloud storage.

Files processed by online tools (converters, resizers, formatters) are deleted after 2 hours.

Tips for a successful transfer

  • Tell recipients the file expires — don’t assume they will download days later
  • Use a stable connection for very large video or archive files
  • Do not post the download link on a public forum or social feed
  • If you need a converter first, use a tool, then send the result via the homepage uploader
