Storage protections are separate from the HTTPS connection and do not make this an end-to-end encrypted service. Guest files are temporary; account files can remain within a plan allowance. No. We do not sell file content or upload metadata to data brokers or advertisers. Advertising partners may use cookies on our pages for ad delivery and measurement — that is separate from your uploaded files. Read the cookie section in our Privacy Policy.

No. There is no public “recent uploads” list. Download links use long, unguessable tokens. Only people you share the link with (or someone they forward it to) can attempt a download while the file is still available.

Yes, when password protection is enabled for your upload or share settings. Set it before sharing, then send the password separately from the link. A download password is an access check, not end-to-end encryption and not a way to revoke a copy someone already downloaded. Read the password-protected sharing guide.

Ask them to retry with a stable connection. If the retention period expired, the file is gone permanently and must be re-uploaded. We cannot recover deleted temporary files by design.

Short retention reduces data breach impact, prevents “forgotten” sensitive files from lingering online, and keeps infrastructure costs manageable so we can offer free transfers. Accounts provide a separate, plan-limited choice for files that need to remain available.

No. Once a temporary retention timer elapses, the file is removed from active storage and cannot be recovered. Files saved as account storage remain subject to the account plan and deletion rules; keep independent backups for important data.

If you have access to a management control for your transfer, deleting it should invalidate future downloads promptly. When in doubt, treat the auto-delete timer as the final deadline.

Files processed by our online tools follow the same temporary philosophy: inputs and outputs are kept only as long as needed for processing and download, then removed — typically within 2 hours unless stated otherwise on the tool page.

Most tools process files server-side so they can handle large inputs reliably. Files are not published publicly and are deleted after processing according to our retention policy. Each tool page explains what happens to your data.
